The African Heritage Cultural Arts Center presents The Making of the African American: From Africa to Juneteenth, Part II in the African Heritage Cultural Arts Center’s Juneteenth Discussion Series. The Discussion will be held in the Center’s Wendell A. Narcisse Performing Arts Theater on Saturday, June 18, 2022, at 7p.m. Join us for an interactive, visual conversation and Q&A with Historian and former Mayor of the City of Opa-Locka, Matthew A. Pigatt.

This lesson details how the interaction between Europe and Africa gave birth to America. From the creation of the thirteen colonies to the development of capitalism, the American Revolution, and the constitution, all have their roots in the engagement, plunder, and enslavement of Africa and its’ people.

History defines our world. This presentation opens participant’s eyes to this untold historical perspective, while sharing how it affects our lives today.
