Summer Arts Conservatory
The Summer Arts Conservatory (SAC) is a premiere arts training program. Many of the Marshall L. Davis, Sr. African Heritage Cultural Arts Center alumni began their journey to success through this program. This 9-week arts intensive, provides quality instruction to children ages 5-16 enabling them to actualize themselves in both the performing and visual arts. The Center supports parents who desire to have their child in a safe-creative learning environment during the summer break.
During the summer, DAHCAC students receive professional development workshops, masterclasses, field trips, and other creative experiences in exploration of the arts. Students obtain the tools to discover and nurture their artistic talents, enhance their academic abilities, improve social skills, focus on their health and fitness, and develop positive self-esteem.
Through the Instrumental Start Fellowship, 15 students will be selected to receive instruments of their choices, a year’s scholarship to take lessons at the Center and mentorship by Cleveland Orchestra and New World Symphony. The students will hear from acclaimed actors, dancers, singers, authors, and DAHCAC Alumni at the Village Talk, encouraging them to pursue their dreams/goals.
DAHCAC Alumni include former Alvin Ailey Artistic Director Robert Battle, Bianca Brewton who dances with Beyonce and Janet Jackson, Academy Award Winner (Moonlight) Tarell McCraney, Grammy Nominate Jazz Trumpeter Shareef Clayton, and numerous others.
Transportation is available from select schools between County Line Road and West Flager Street. Download the Transportation Application.
