Heritage Stage Band
Travis Quinn, Band Director
The Heritage Stage Band (H.S.B.) was originated by the distinguished Melton Mustafa and is re-emerging to keep jazz alive and vibrant in the black life experience. The program is the in-house instrumental music apprenticeship program for youth ages 9-19 at the DAHCAC.
They perform in a minimum of one major concert per year and for various dignitaries and special events during the year. Students’ growth and development is facilitated through performances, open rehearsals, attending cultural excursions, and participating in workshops and community service. The Heritage Stage Band strives to develop members’ ability to read music and enhance the improvisational skills that magnet schools and professional agencies seek. Young musicians can be invited to join or apply and audition.
