African Heritage Youth (AHYT!)

The African Heritage Youth Theatre (AHYT!) is the premier youth theatre company for students ages 10-17. Founded by the late, great Atim Johnson, AHYT was designed as a space for students of color to come together and grow in theater. Since then, AHYT has grown to be a reputable youth theater company with past directors such as the late Stacey Morrison, Ashlee Thomas, Jazmin Jones-Oliver, and now Jean Hyppolite.

Members perform in two main-stage performances, attend cultural excursions, and participate in community service. Students can be invited to join AHYT! or attend auditions. The theatre company strives to develop members’ acting repertoire and enhance theatrical skills that magnet schools and professional companies desire.

Program Requirements:
